MYTORONTO by Ve'ahavta
Ve'ahavta is a social services organisation providing programmes for people affected by homelessness to prepare for the workforce.
In 2015 Cafe Art was approached by supporters of this charity and the first camera handout of 100 Fujifilm QuickSnap cameras was in June 2017. It resulted in an exhibition and 2018 calendar and an award winning documentary by a Toronto Star journalist which can be seen on YouTube.
MYTORONTO ran for three years with single-use film cameras before a local funder developed a contest smartphone app and distributed smartphones as cameras for its 2020 contest in an effort to infuse digital literacy into the programme.
